The Sharks, coming off the very late winning try by Lukanyo Am in their crucial match against the Stormers on Saturday, left for Australia with injured flyhalf/fullback Curwin Bosch but without loosehead stalwart Beast Mtawarira on Sunday night.
The Sharks play the Brumbies in the one Super Rugby quarterfinal in Canberra on Saturday.
Bosch missed the match against the Stormers because of an ankle injury picked up against the Jaguares in Buenos Aires the previous week.
Mtawarira, after being sidelined for weeks with a knee injury, was selected to play against but hurt the knee again during last week’s captain’s run on Friday.
Springbok wing Makazole Mapimpi is also in the squad despite leaving the field with concussion on Saturday.
The Sharks have included hooker Craig Burden, who has seen very little game time with the Sharks this season since returning from his years playing in Europe. After missing the season’s early matches with various niggles, he tweaked a hamstring two weeks ago when he came on as replacement against the Jaguares.
Flankers Philip van der Walt and Jean-Luc du Preez have still not been passed fit and were not selected.
