After the total domination of the Protea bowlers in the recent test series win against the West Indies in St Lucia, South Africa's bowlers were brough back to reality in the first of the five T20’s scheduled for St Georges in Grenada which was played on Saturday.

The World Champion West India's batsmen annihilated the SA test threesome of speedsters Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortjé, and the two spinners Tabraiz Shamsi and George Linde on Saturday, in their chase for161 to win.

The home side knocked off the total in exactly 15 overs for the loss of two wickets, one of which was a run-out. They hit 15 sixes and nine fours with Evin Lewis (71 off 35 balls, four fours, seven sixes) and Andre Fletcher (30 off 19), hitting 85 for the first wicket in 7 overs before Fletcher (3 fours, 2 sixes) was run out. Chris Gayle scored 32 in 24 balls (9 fours and three sixes) and Andre Russel 23 with three sixes and a four.

In South Africa’s innings, Quinton de Kock (37 from 24) and Reeza Hendricks (17 from 11) gave the Proteas a brisk start (33 runs off 3.4 overs) that became 81 in 6.4 overs. Then the Proteas lost the plot before Rassie van der Dussen scored an undefeated 56, hitting four fours and two sixes off 38 balls to give the total a semblance of respectability.

Until the Windies showed them what could be done when their turn came to bat!
