In South Africa, most people will not buy the news that Australia are probably favourites in the coming two Rugby Championship tests against World Champions the Springboks on August 10 and 17.
But the past results speak for themelves. In the 21 games in Australia since the World Cup they hosted in 2003, the Boks have won just four tests, drawn once, and lost on 16 occasions.
Brisbane in itself has been a very diffiicult venue for the Boks who have managed only ONE win in their 13 tests there since 1993. The Boks were trounced 9-29 in the 2003 test on Brisbane.
And in 2006, the Walabies won 49-0 when the Springboks were coached by another World Cup winning coach, Jake White, who is now the Bulls head coach. It is still the Boks’ heaviest defeat to the Wallabies.
Perth Stadium will be the World Champions’ second Super Rugby test on 15 August. It is a venue the Springboks last visited in 2017.
