Lions coach De Bruin becomes official attack coach for World Cup

It has been reported that Lions head coach Swys de Bruin has been contracted by SA Rugby as attacking coach with the Springboks to the Rugby World Cup in Japan later this year.

According to the website Netwerk24, the Lions mentor signed his contract on Saturday.

"I feel honoured that Rassie Erasmus asked me to go to the World Cup. Attack will be my responsibility. It's a wonderful opportunity," De Bruin said according to the netwerk24 website

De Bruin was part of the Springbok management team during the 2018 season.

He will remain head coach of the Lions but has not yet extended his contract with the Lions for the 2020 season.

De Bruin became Lions head coach last year when he over from Johan Ackermann who left to coach Gloucester in England.

De Bruin led the Lions to a runners-up finish in the 2018 Super Rugby competition.
